There is no better time to become active in the family. If you are looking to change the current lifestyle of your children and want to start making healthy choices, then I have six wonderful tips to keep you on the right track to raising healthy and active children. A healthy lifestyle is a wonderful family goal that you can achieve with some creative changes.

Talk to your Pediatrician

I always recommend that you talk to your child’s doctor about the right kind of exercise for them, especially if you need to make drastic lifestyle changes. The words “active” and “children” used to go hand-in-hand, but in the modern world in which we live, many children do not engage in physical activity or play sports. Changing an inactive lifestyle to an active lifestyle can be a drastic change for the body. All changes in physical activity should be gradual. Examining your child’s health should be the first step toward achieving physical goals before making any lifestyle changes to achieve family fitness goals.

Creating a routine

The best way to incorporate a familiar physical routine is to write a schedule and choose two activities per week. Consider planning outdoor activities for your children, such as hiking, Cycling or playing sports to make physical activities more entertaining. The more you integrate your children into the planning process, the more enthusiastic they will be about change.

Includes Modern Technology

If you have children who use technology like computers, video games, and tablets, you may find resistance from them when changing one of your electronic devices for an exercise routine. In such a case, you can use modern technology and make the transition to an active lifestyle with exercise games and challenges. There are many dance games, exercises and activities that combine technology with simple tasks to help children be active. This council should not eliminate traditional outdoor activities, But it is a step in the right direction.

Come back to the traditional way and keep it simple

Remember how fun it was to play simple games with friends when you were younger? As you engage in more traditional physical activities, pay attention to fun coordination moves. Children have a developing nervous system and can benefit greatly by incorporating thick and light motor skills. These activities include kicking, jumping, catching, and these may seem more like physical exercise.

Be Smart About Exercises

Children have many ideas about what they think they can do. Your children can view photos on the social networks of other children by lifting heavy weights. It really is not a good idea for children to lift weights. There are different opinions on the ideal age at which children should start lifting weights, but that is a decision that should be discussed with your child’s doctor. I believe that the weight of your body is perfect for developing resistance for children and adults. I started my weight training program at the age of 15. My husband started at age 17, and we’ve both been successful in the world of physical training. My kids will not touch the dumbbells until they’re teenagers. Until then, they will have fun doing sit-ups, chest push-ups, and playing on the climbing bars.

Lead by example

The greatest gift you can give your children is to lead by example, by practicing healthy habits. Try putting on an exercise DVD or follow a computer workout routine to set an example of an active lifestyle. If your youngest children want to join, you should allow them. Just make sure they are away from all equipment, especially the weights and the running machine. A fall on the running machine can cause permanent marks and burns (I know this from personal experience, and you do not need to make the same mistake.).
